What does Sower of Seeds/Hope for North Texas do locally?

Sower of Seeds is committed to seeing local churches mobilized to reach their community with the love of Christ.  Not only do we have the opportunity to do thisaround the world, but through Hope for North Texas (our local outreach program of Sower of Seeds) we get to do this locally as well.

This year, faithful Hope for North Texas volunteers have already logged 8,400 hours in service to the poor, broken and marginalized. That’s valued at over $179,000 given in time to our community through our 9 faith-based community partners.  So many of our service projects have budgets and costs associated withserving.  We need your help funding service projects all over our community. From meals for senior citizens, children and men & women struggling, school supplies, lawn care, paint, building supplies & room remodels, there are so many service projects needing funding.

On September 15, 2011 we have the opportunity to have any donation over $25 made toward these local projects MATCHED by the Communities Foundation of North Texas.

We have recently celebrated 2 great fundraising events here in North Texas that really exhibited the power and value of partnership.

On September 18-19, 2010, Fieldhouse Fitness and Jailbreak Racing and Entertainment hosted the 3.8 mile Jaibreak Dash at DFW Adventure Park to help give water wells to communities without water in India.  They race absolutely stood up to their motto of Get Dirty, Have Fun & Do Good!  Over the 2 days, more than 8,000 people participated in this cause, providing multiple water wells for communities in India.

North Texas company Charley’s Concrete has sponsored the Annual Sower of Seeds Charity Golf Tournament and Auction Dinner for the past 3 years, enabling 100% of the proceeds of the event to go toward the rescue of girls and children from Asia’s largest red-light district.  Over the years, company owners, Charley and Brent Pennington have given a number of water wells to communities all over India.

Events are not the only way companies can be part of something greater. Our friends at Chalk, Cullum & Associates has helped lend a hand with event logistics for the annual golf tournament for the past 3 years and provide ongoing support multiple significant projects in India.

Other local organizations and businesses help raise support for S.O.S. causes. Grapevine  and Fort Worth Coffee House and Roaster, Buon Giorno Coffee, hosts coffee house fundraisers and has donated coffee for a number of fundraising events.  Buon Giorno also keeps a collection jar for guest to help provide water wells in India. They have become true partners in raising funds for water projects as well as helping to spread the word about water problems in India.

Roots Coffee House partners with SOS by donating wall space in their gallery for regular exhibitions of our photographs. They also do benefit events.

Gameguard Camo has featured S.O.S. in their catalogue and have offered tremendous support, helping to raise awareness and support for Project Red Light Rescue.

Employees at Pfizer, Pepsico, Sabre Holdings, Microsoft and Google have all contributed gifts to S.O.S.’s work in India and had it matched by their employers’ Matching Gift Funds.

We do not take the contributions and hard work from our local, national and international church partners for granted. Visit http://www.thenextgenerationproject.org to see what one of our church partners is doing.

Nothing provides us greater satisfaction than to see local churches and their members rise up to meet needs in their communities. Youth groups from large and small churches nationwide have ongoing fundraising projects with CHAMPIONS.  Visit and support their projects.

Water is very important for children.  They need water to keep them alive and well. And if they dont have water they start dying of thirst. It is important for us to do what we can to help them stay well.

Children get access to safe water because of these water wells that we can provide.

In John 4:10 we read:

¹⁰Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

¹¹“Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? ¹²Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?”

¹³Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, ¹⁴but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” – The Message

It is too much to bear to think about slavery. It grieves my heart and God’s heart to see people enslaved.  I am tired of seeing people mistreat others. I would like to see the world be free and like to be free.

I want people to realize what they are doing to themselves and toward others.  So many people are harming themselves with drugs or commiting suicide or harming themselves with beer and alcohol.  It is not the answer to your life problem and it will make things worse in your own life. The only answer is Jesus and God. True freedom lies in this.

Jesus reveals God’s heart for us in Matthew when He tells us about the most important command.

“Jesus said, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.’ This is the most important, the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it: ‘Love others as well as you love yourself.’ These two commands are pegs; everything in God’s Law and the Prophets hangs from them.”  - Matthew 22:34-36

“So, since we’re out from under the old tyranny, does that mean we can live any old way we want? Since we’re free in the freedom of God, can we do anything that comes to mind? Hardly. You know well enough from your own experience that there are some acts of so-called freedom that destroy freedom. Offer yourselves to sin, for instance, and it’s your last free act. But offer yourselves to the ways of God and the freedom never quits. All your lives you’ve let sin tell you what to do. But thank God you’ve started listening to a new master, one whose commands set you free to live openly in his freedom!” – Romans 6:15-18

Here’s the plan: from our rendezvous point in Roanoke, Texas, we’ll make a break for it – if all go at the same time, we’ll have a better chance for success.

It won’t be easy – we’ll be going for 3.8 miles before we’re in the clear. We’ll probably get chased by the Law. The terrain will be on our side, though it’ll be rough – mud, sludge, low wire, river crossings, and who knows what else. This isn’t for prison wives. But I think you’ve got what it takes to do the Jailbreak with me. Mark it on your calendar, and don’t be late.

Spread the word. Success is in numbers, my friend.

When you run through muddy water at the Jailbreak, you’re insuring kids in India don’t have to drink something similar. The Jailbreak run is directly benefiting Sower of Seeds, a non-profit ministry with compassion outreaches to India.

Sower of Seeds has a focus on social development, and they are committed to searching for and developing not only sustainable life-saving solutions, but also truly life-changing ones to the problems the poor face every day.

Our goal is to drill as many clean water wells in India as we possibly can. For every 1,000 participants, we can dig one well in India. Every 15 seconds one child in India dies from water-related causes. You can help drill water wells in communities without safe,clean drinking water.”

God has helped me to overcome many life issues.  Some things have been defeated and I am still trying to change. God has helped me change many things.  I place my hope in Him and put my entire life, being, body, soul and mind into His hands.

As I was growing up I did not realize that I was in the middle of spiritual warfare. Only after many years, I realized that God really wanted to change me from my old self into a new self… I realized that He wanted to shape my character.  That is when I decided to change.

All of us have something to overcome.  The good news is that God wants to shape us in His image.

God helps people to change.  It’s His heart to restore you from all your mistakes in your life and with His help you can truly be restored and He wants to help you improve your life.

I want to see people changed by God’s power as He has helped me to change my character for the better.  It’s His heart to see lives changed by His power, not by human hands and not by us. It is not our job to fix people. It is God’s job to fix people. that is how God deals with us here on this earth. And He rejoices with us when we celebrate each other’s victories.

It is God’s desire to see this world restored and redeemed by His power.

In the bible, Matthew 5-16 is talking about discipline, and about the school is for discipleship of fellowship, and place to learn about the Lord your God, and it is a place for the children to learn about their own purpose in their life, and once they reach teenage years will help themselves to rediscover their own purpose. in the bible, in the book of Matthew, Jesus admonishes us to let our light shine in the world to show people how God shines upon us from heaven’s light.

The Seventh Annual Sower of Seeds International Ministries Golf Tournament will take place on October 18, 2010 at Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club in Keller, TX. Our title sponsor this year is Charley’s Concrete Company, a local Keller business that has been our title sponsor for the past 3 golf tournaments.

This year’s golf tournament will raise support for Project Red Light Rescue, preventing child sex trafficking as well as rescuing and rehabilitating victims of sex trafficking in India. The outreach also helps children of women trapped in the brothel system and girls at risk of exploitation. (Read more about this project.)

Imagine what it’s like for kids to live without enough water, or without food, or education, or without anybody being there for them. Imagine what it’s like to feel your stomach aching really bad… all the time.  That’s what most Indian kids feel every day.

If you see the faces of starving children, some even being close to death because of malnutrition and sickness – and if you see the thirsty look on their faces, it is easy to understand that God wants to help them.  It is the heart of S.O.S. to be there to help by bringing food and water and education to those hungry kids.

“The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the LORD will answer them; I the God of Israel, will not forsake them.
I will make rivers flow on barren heights. And springs within the valleys.  I will turn the desert into pools of water, 
and the parched ground into springs
…so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the LORD has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.” -Isaiah 41: 17-18, 20
