India is a source, destination and transit country for human trafficking: US report | Sindh Today – Online News.
Click on the link above to read an article about the release of the U.S. State Department’s 9th Annual Trafficking in Persons report.
India’s country profile on p.155 of the report states that: “Those from India’s most disadvantaged social economic strata are particularly
vulnerable to forced or bonded labor and sex trafficking. Women and girls are trafficked within the country for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation and forced marriage. Children are also subjected to forced labor as factory workers, domestic servants, beggars, and agricultural workers.”
- Having a safe place to take children like these is a step in the right direction to help prevent the widespread trafficking and exploitation of poor, neglected and abandoned children into the sex trade in India. Thanks for supporting outreaches like the India LIFE Center – a place of refuge for neglected or abandoned children.
