Celebrating a Very Special Gift this Christmas

It is always fun to spend a little time up at the LIFE Center outside Mumbai, getting to know the different personalities of the children that live there. I was privileged to be part of a Christmas celebration at the India LIFE Center last year.
The team was preparing for the small Christmas celebration planned for the evening and we spent some downtime with the kids. We drew pictures with the kids and shared some precious playtime with their favorite toys.
Spending any time with one of these little ones on your lap places an entirely different perspective on things. The greatest gift for me was the opportunity just to sit and absorb the tremendous amount of love these children seem to have in reserve for anyone who is willing to receive it.
It is hard to imagine that there are 25 million orphans in India.
The children at the LIFE Center seem so far removed from the circumstances that brought them to our attention – each child here has a history likely to bring tears to anyone’s eyes.
Seeing them living happy, healthy lives, studying and talking about a future within reach emphasizes the tremendous sense of purpose of the India LIFE Center:
Every single one of these children has the capacity to succeed and overcome their past, regardless of where they came from.
It is clear that God has a plan for their lives and I am glad that S.O.S. gives me an opportunity to play a part in that, both as a staff member and as a supporter of the India LIFE Center.
I believe that He has a plan for these children, and for every child that finds himself thirsty, hungry, alone or abandoned.
