Project Red Light Rescue - Rescuing Victims of Human Trafficking
Poverty has many expressions of abuse but none are perhaps as devastating to the human heart as “sex slavery”. Little girls are bought, stolen or sold by people who prey upon them as a source of livelihood. Girls are often thrown in cages or locked in rooms for up to 3 years where they are repeatedly abused and tortured until they lose all will to run away. Then they are made to stand in the street, selling themselves for almost nothing...
Asia's largest red-light district:
Three square kilometers crammed with an estimated 40,000 women working its 24 lanes, earning at least $200 million a year in revenue for their traffickers, where 95% of the children of prostituted women become prostitutes, where children are trafficked into abuse and violence daily, where 73.7% of all girls trapped inside the brothel system must be rescued if they are ever to reach the outside world again... The world has forgotten them, but God hasn’t.
S.O.S.International is partnering with LIFE Outreach International in a response to the devastation wreaked on the lives of these girls and their families.
The project works to prevent child sex trafficking and to rescue and rehabilitate trafficking victims. This initiative provides for each girl's needs, provides care for children of prostitutes and rescues children before they can be trafficked. By becoming involved, you can combat human trafficking and have tangible impact on the lives of the victims.
"He will rescue the poor when they cry to him; he will help the oppressed, who have no one to defend them. He feels pity for the weak and the needy, and he will rescue them. He will redeem them from oppression and violence, for their lives are precious to him." -Psalm 72:12-14 (New Living Translation)
